My recent talk to encourage active, healthy and happy communities

I recently attended a conference to promote my company, Salti. We had our first trade display (pretty exciting milestone for a start up!) and I was invited give a presentation on day three of the event.

Even as a yoga and pilates instructor, public speaking doesn't come naturally to me, but I did it. It was my opportunity to share details about my business and educate a room filled with key people about how they can encourage and create healthy, happy communities by introducing alternative ways to get active, other than traditional 'sport', such as Salti.

Introducing people to new ways to move their body has been a personal mission for me. So I used this forum to share my experiences, knowledge and my message that an active lifestyle can be light hearted and non-competitive. And that we need more options in communities across the country to get more people active, more often.

I want people to feel like they can participate in physical activity and don't feel that they have to be the best, just their own best version. Where falling can be fun and challenging, but certainly not failure.

If you don't like exercising, or haven't found your 'thing', don't give up. There are so many ways to move your body and I'm doing my part to spread this message so alternative options can become more accepted and more accessible. Watch this space.
