Say hello to your muscles and your mind

Introducing your new winter activity! Enjoy a balmy heated indoor swimming pool while improving your strength and balance, using mindful movement, all while having fun and meeting new people.

Strength and Balance is my 8 week program designed with yoga inspired movement and easy to understand yoga philosophy. We're taking yoga poses and functional movement and bringing it together with mindfulness practises, relaxation, self enquiry and reflection, allowing you an opportunity to really get to know your mind and your body.  

This is not considered as a yoga class. Each week is a workshop, broken down into bite size pieces, focusing on different areas of our body so you become confident and familiar moving on water, allowing you to really master strength and balance in your mind and body.

 

It won't be easy and it's not for the faint hearted! But it will be fun!

 

 

Expect your cheeks to hurt

Am I talking about your glutes or your face? I guess now that I think of it, probably both.

But no, what I'm referring to is your face. Expect to have fun, laugh, play and let your hair down.

 

Our sessions will be light hearted, and you'll leave feeling good!

 
You'll get out of your comfort zone - you'll face fears and challenges

Your first session will begin with an aromatherapy workshop to set the tone for the coming weeks. We'll begin with an introduction to essential oils and you'll be guided through the process to make your own personalised essential oil blend using the highest quality oils which will support you, motivate you and fill you with positive vibes. You're essential oil will be yours to keep and use each week to elevate your senses, ground you, inspire you, or fill you with bravery and acceptance before each session on the Float. 

During the 8 weeks you can expect

  • 8 x 90 minute workshops (one per week) exploring your own strength and balance with physical movement to strengthen, lengthen and tone muscles that don't often get attention.

  • Each class broken down allowing you to seek the confidence within to progress at your own level.

  • Optional home practises to prepare you for your own 'balance goal'. 

  • Opportunities for your to face fears, set personal goals or intentions.

  • Aromatherapy workshop and your personal essential oil blend to keep.

  • Your own workbook gently intertwined with yoga philosophy for personal reflection and mindfulness.

  • You'll understand yourself as we allow time for you to observe any challenges you've faced, how your mind and body feels and responds.

  • A focus on a positive mindset and kindness towards yourself.

  • Your body will feel stronger.

  • Your mind will feel stronger, calmer and you'll have tools to cultivate peace in your own internal environment.

  • You'll meet like-minded individuals and make great friends.

  • You'll have fun!

Workshop details

Each workshop will begin with mindful movement including a warm up, physical challenges (expect your heart rate to go up and serious muscle engagement) and an opportunity to practise calming it right down while having fun on the Floats.

 

The night will end in our Float room, giving us a chance to share and reflect, time for journalling, we'll break down poses, stretch and enjoy a guided relaxation meditation so you go home feeling light and ready for a good night's sleep. 

 
 
This program is perfect for you if...
  • You're looking for a new way to move your body and develop your strength in a fun environment 

  • You want to be surrounded by positivity and others who support you

  • You love a good challenge and one that helps you stay motivated and focused 

  • You are comfortable in the deep end of a swimming pool and can swim 25 metres 

  • You have the strength to pull yourself up onto a platform/pool edge (there will be lots of falling so you need to be able get back up in the deep end - don't worry, you can go slow and at your own pace, but getting on and off is part of the program, wait until you learn the 'seal')

  • You're happy to get wet (there will not be a single workshop where you'll stay dry! Don't make Thursday your hair washing day!)

  • You're over 18 or accompanied by a parent or guardian

  • You LOVE HAVING FUN

For safety reasons, this program is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant or has serious injuries or health concerns.

 

Workshop schedule

The first session will run from 6pm-8pm. The following workshops will run from 6:30pm-8pm each Thursday. Each class will begin with our 'on water' workshop, followed by a short break for you to get changed and meet in the Float room for the second half of the workshop.

Aromatherapy workshop to create a personal blend of aromatherapy oil. Introduction, fundamentals and exploring movement on water.

What to wear

​Wear anything that makes you feel comfortable. This can be colourfast activewear or modest/sports swimwear.

What to bring

  • Clothing or swimwear for on water

  • a towel

  • a warm change of clothes 

  • your journal and essential oil (you'll receive this at week 1)
